Today in Huma150 we as a class were asked to describe, define and debunk a remedialized website, for this Chelin and I decided to analyze Dictionary.com. In its current state Dictionary.com provides users with a quick and easy search bar, which provides ample definitions of the word one wishes to define. This is accompanied with pronounciation links, letter-search links and word correction if spelling is an issue.
Due to these capabilities, dictionary.com is an older medium represented in digital form! It has taken the Dictionary book and represented it in an entirely digital layout.
While paperpack dictionaries offer a tedius process to finding several definitions of words; along with its written pronounciation and section of speech, the digitalized version provides links to other words and word corrections if the word one intends to seach is mispelled. In addition to said digital aspects it also allows the user to search with speed, listen to an audio pronounciation and lastly, search for mutiple accurate definitions. These digitalized abilities allow the vacant
lacunae between a fading old world and a modernized new world to be filled.
